Shabaridham is a very sacred place with religious rituals happening all throughout the year. The nearby Chamak hills is the place where prabhu Shri ram, Laxman and Shabarimata are supposed to have met. A big ‘jatra’ is held here on the occasion of Sharad Poornima. The ancient Pampa lake mentioned in Ramayan is only 6 kms from this place. Rishi Maatang, spiritual guru of Shabarimata, had his ashram near this lake.
Nearby is ‘Unaai’ which has natural hot water stream. Prabhu Shri Ram is supposed to have created this stream, with his arrow, to cure Rishi Sharabhang of kushtharog.
‘Anjani kund’ which has stories linked to Anjanimata of pawan-putra Hanuman, is also situated nearby.
Kumbh mela is a very ancient Hindu tradition when entire Hindu samaj comes together and seeks guidance from reverred sadhus on important socio-spiritual issues. Like impure blood flows into the heart and after purification re-energizes the entire body, Hindus will come to the Shabari Kumbh and then awaken the entire nation with message of Dharma-jagarana and Dharma-raksha.
